The EMERCOM employees celebrate their professional holiday - the Rescue Worker’s Day

In the EMERCOM of Russia, there are highly qualified specialists. Firefighters, rescuers, pyrotechnicians, pilots, divers, dog handlers and many other specialists daily perform tasks of extinguishing fires, liquidating emergencies, searching for and disarming explosive objects, go to accidents, rescue during floods and other disasters.

In just 11 months of this year, the department's employees rescued about 45,000 and evacuated almost 190,000 people. More than 220 emergency situations were liquidated, while their number decreased by 39%. About 330,000 fires have been put out. More than 1.4 thousand people were rescued at water bodies, more than 15 thousand people – during the liquidation of accidents.

The EMERCOM aviation performed more than 15 thousand flights, made more than 600 sanitary evacuation flights. This year, aircraft were involved in extinguishing forest fires almost 2.2 thousand times, having performed more than 5 thousand water discharges. Moreover, in 21 cases, it was thanks to this that it was possible to save settlements in 11 regions from fire.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia constantly develops humanitarian cooperation with international organizations and emergency departments of other countries. During this year, 35 humanitarian operations were carried out. Assistance was provided to the people of Cuba, Sudan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Turkey, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, South Ossetia, etc.
