EMERCOM of Russia and the United Arab Emirates are developing cooperation

On February 22, the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov discussed the vectors of cooperation with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Russia Mohammad Al Jaber.
The parties agree that the relations between Russian and Emirati rescuers are truly fraternal. Last year was busy in terms of bilateral cooperation. Thus, specialists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the UAE rescue service participated side by side in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters in Syria, Turkey and Libya. Working together in difficult and extreme conditions helped reduce the number of casualties and reduce the damage from the consequences of emergency situations. Alexander Kurenkov called such cooperation a worthy example of fire and rescue brotherhood, based on the principle of support and mutual assistance.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations considers the emergency service of the Emirates as an important and reliable partner. The United Arab Emirates has established and operates an effective fire and rescue service that has extensive experience in responding to emergencies of various types and meets the highest international standards. The Head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations identified several areas as relevant and promising for cooperation.
“The Emirates are our closest partner not only within the framework of bilateral relations, but also at various international platforms, including the International Civil Defense Organization and BRICS. We look forward to further cooperation within the ICDO and mutual support,” noted the Head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.
Starting this year, the Emirates became a full member of BRICS. Our country, being the chairman of the ICDO Executive Council this year, is carrying out a number of events aimed at strengthening interaction in the field of protecting the people and territories from natural and man-made emergencies. Thus, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations recently organized training for operators of emergency services of the BRICS countries with the participation of Emirati colleagues. In mid-April, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold another event in the city of Arkhangelsk to develop common approaches to emergency management. Colleagues from the Arabian Peninsula are also invited to participate.
The Head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations also noted the importance of scientific and technical cooperation.
“The exchange of advanced technologies allows us to improve our emergency services and make the work of firefighters and rescuers more efficient and safe,” noted Alexander Kurenkov.
This year, for the 15th time, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations organizes the International Salon “Integrated Safety”. A large-scale event will take place at the end of May in the Moscow region with the participation of colleagues from several countries.
Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their readiness to develop further interaction within the framework of the agreements reached and to identify new areas of interaction.
